What is it?

A Letter of Intent to purchase is a written document detailing Carleton University’s intent to enter negotiations with a vendor based on the results of an open Competitive Procurement (RFx). A Letter of Intent precedes the more formal Contract, and subsequent purchase order.

Why is it important?

It is particularly important to understand that the Letter of Intent is not intended allow for the start of work or delivery of any goods or services. Any activities related to a successful procurement may only start after the Contract is awarded.
