Fall Orientation Volunteer Overview
All volunteers regardless of role will play an integral part in the delivery of the 2025 Fall Orientation programming and will receive training to support them in their roles. Volunteers can expect to assist with hosting events and connecting with new students to welcome them to the Carleton community. Students like YOU are the key to the success of the Fall Orientation program and welcoming new students to the Carleton community.
*Please note all positions are open to returning UNDERGRADUATE students only.
Central, SciFrosh and Sprosh Volunteer Roles
Facilitator Description
Facilitators are the students who make up the bulk of volunteers who are responsible for interacting with first-year students, ensuring that they have a great week! Being a facilitator is a great way to build your leadership skills and get involved in Fall Orientation, especially if you have never done it before! No experience needed!
Facilitators should possess the following qualities:
- Ability to engage with incoming students to assist in their transition to Carleton
- Ability to work in a team environment or a large group setting
- School spirit and a desire to showcase Raven Pride to new students
Raven Description
Ravens are crucial to the successful implementation of the Fall Orientation Program. Ravens are responsible for assisting the Head Raven with all aspects of the week to ensure the success of all events.
Tasks include:
- Event set ups
- Event tear down
- Assistance with logistical pieces involved with Fall Orientation.
Ravens are not assigned a group of new students to interact with, however, they do wear many hats over the course of the week! If are you someone who loves to multi-task behind the scenes, this volunteer opportunity is for you.
Team Lead Description
The Fall Orientation Team Leads are the key to successful implementation of the Fall Orientation Program. Team Leads are responsible for the leadership and coordination of one of the Fall Orientation groups formed during orientation week.
Team Leads should possess the following qualities:
- Knowledge of campus and commitment to the goals of Orientation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Teamwork and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
- Public speaking, one on one, and group facilitation.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
Previous Orientation experience or experience in a similar leadership role is essential. Team Leaders are selected after an interview process (taking place on March 24th).
Head Raven Description
The Fall Orientation Head Raven(s) is an extremely important position in Fall Orientation. The Head Raven is responsible for the leadership and coordination of all of the Ravens as well as acting as a liaison between the Orientation Coordinators, Team Leads, Ravens and all volunteers. Do you love a challenge?! If so, apply today! Head Ravens are selected after an interview process (taking place on March 24th)
Qualifications
No experience required to volunteer with Fall Orientation. If you have the enthusiasm and want to help out, we would love to have you join us.
Volunteers MUST have the following qualifications:
- Be a returning Undergraduate Student for Fall 2025.
- Be in Good Academic Standing and receive Eligible to Continue during the June 2025 Academic Continuation Evaluation (as defined by the Undergraduate Calendar).
- Be able to submit a Police Record Check (PRC) consisting of Level 3 – Vulnerable Sector Check.
