The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences' (FASS) Student Ambassadors are important representatives of FASS. These dynamic students participate in high school outreach visits and assist with Undergraduate Recruitment. They also attend various talks and panel events to engage members of the greater community with Carleton and FASS. Additionally, our Student Ambassadors contribute to FASS’ professional communications team by helping with promotional activities, including social media content creation and student experience storytelling.

Odin Fisher-Skau (He/Him) - Cognitive Science, Minor in Philosophy
Odin is a fourth year Cognitive Science student concentrating in Cognition and Psychology and minoring in Philosophy. Odin's fascination with studying the mind has led him to be involved in several programs of research across a wide array of disciplines. Outside of academia, Odin enjoys writing trivia and playing guitar. As a FASS student ambassador, Odin hopes to show off everything you can get out of your time at Carleton University.
Purity Gituma (She/Her) - BA History and Theory of Architecture, Minor in Arts Management
Purity is a dedicated student who passionately explores her fascination for the built environment and its connection to culture. She was recently awarded the Rawlson King and Linda Grussani Scholarship for Indigenous, Black and Racialized Students. Outside the classroom, she channels her passions through blogging and working as a Collections Assistant at Carleton’s Audio-Visual Resource Centre under the Young Canada Works program (2022-2023). In her free time, Purity enjoys listening to music and expressing her creativity through photography. As a student ambassador, Purity hopes to contribute to sharing the enriching experience in the program.
Sachi Ghalib (She/Her) - Bachelor of Music, Minor in Community Engagement
Sachi is a hardworking singer-songwriter student in the Bachelor of Music program. She has been involved in the Students as Partners Program, volunteering at every opportunity and attending student events at Carleton. Her love for singing, writing music, and collaborating with other artists to create unique experiences defines her passion. Aside from music, her hobbies include baking and seizing any opportunity to indulge her creativity. She became a FASS Ambassador to deepen her involvement with the Carleton community and connect with fellow students.
Sera Patenaude (She/Her) - Double Honours Humanities and Religion
Sera is a fourth-year student in the humanities and religion program with a particular interest in Christianity. She loves nothing more than reading, except maybe talking about books with others. Her time in the college of humanities has exposed her to such a variety of new and fascinating realms of study. She hopes that, as a FASS ambassador, she will be able to share these passions with new students!
Anders Modeen (He/Him) - History and Theory of Architecture
Anders is on the path to achieve his dream of becoming an Architect. His studies help him with that dream as he learns about buildings that inspire people. Inspiring others is also why he became a member of FASS.
Morgan Williams (She/Her) - Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies, Minors in Spanish and American Sign Language, Certificate in the Teaching of English as a Second Language (CTESL)
Morgan began at Carleton as an undeclared student, and later found her place in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies! She is the President of the Carleton Applied and Theoretical Linguistics Society (CATL), works part-time at MacOdrum Library, and, in the past, has been an Undergraduate Student Representative at her department’s faculty meetings, organized and led an ASL study group, and was an Undeclared Student Mentor. Through Carleton’s International Internship Program, Morgan spent 10 weeks in Madrid, Spain this summer, working for an NGO. She has since become increasingly interested in language policy and planning, and is carrying out a literature review project regarding Catalan in Spain this coming year. She loves travelling, listening to music, walking, reading, learning languages, playing the flute, and spending time with friends. Morgan wanted to become a FASS Ambassador to promote her amazing program and meet new people.
Leia Ménard (She/Her) – BA Anthropology
Leia in her spare time participates in various sports such as Soccer, Swimming and Ultimate Frisbee. She enjoys reading, drawing and other forms of bricolage. In addition, Leia works as a lifeguard. She believes joining the FASS will help her meet new exciting people.
Ayla Sully (She/Her) – BA English
Ayla is a second-year student studying English Literature. She enjoys reading, writing, painting, and being outside. During her first year at Carleton she became involved with the English Literature Society and is currently the Co-Secretary. She was also the recipient of a Rosemary Hoey Award. Ayla is excited to participate in the FASS program as she is always striving to become more involved in the English community.
JingHong Wang (He/Him) - Communication and Media Studies
He is a sunny and cheerful person. As a photographer, he actively delves into students, campuses, and cities to take portraits of many students, activity photos, and street photography works. As an international student, he participated in ESLA courses in his freshman year and actively provided assistance and experience to new students in the future.
Lee Zalzalah (They/Them) - Bachelor of Music
Lee is an up and coming baritone saxophonist in Carleton's Music program, with a 4.0 GPA and several scholarships per term. Their involvement in the music program has ranged from working in small and large ensembles to playing gigs at Carleton University for both public and private functions. Lee is excited about becoming a FASS Ambassador to be able to bring representation of the music program with them when helping to represent Carleton as a whole.
Kai Sikkema (She/They) - BA Honours Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies, Minor in Korean and Mandarin Chinese
Kai is in their final year of their BA, with plans to join the Graduate Program next year. They love learning new languages and can currently speak five, but they hope to learn more. They enjoy participating in Carleton’s student events, especially Linguavision. In their free time they enjoy painting, singing, and reading. They are very enthusiastic about Applied Linguistic and Discourse Studies, and hope to show others how valuable and interesting social sciences can be.
Erykah Mackie (She/Her) – BA French, Minor in English Literature
Erykah is a fourth-year student in the French program with a minor in English Literature. She has been involved in CUSFA and Peer Mentors during her time at Carleton, and has a passion for making new and experienced students feel welcome at Carleton! In her free time, she enjoys cleaning, listening to music and spending time with her friends and family. She looks forward to another wonderful school year!
Jada Gannon-Day (She/Her) – BA Anthropology
I am a fourth-year anthropology student with a heavy interest in digital anthropology and how the discipline can grow in the digital age. Since 2021, I’ve been doing digital ethics research with the Transgender Media lab and have given presentations about anti-racist research and the role of anthropologists on DH projects. Since 2023, I’ve been an archival research assistant on the Morrisseau Project. I’m an alternate high school alumni and am highly passionate about encouraging students from unconventional and marginalized backgrounds to pursue social sciences.
Genevieve Latour (She/Her) - B.A. in Psychology, Concentration in Forensics
Genevieve is a French-Canadian fourth year psychology student, working on her honour’s thesis in the Aggressive Cognitions and Behaviours Research lab. She’s passionate about academics and interacting and engaging with others interested in psychology and human behaviour, and is open to any and all conversations. She became a FASS ambassador to help others explore their interest in human psychology, and encourage students to ask questions and use the resources available at Carleton to enable their success. She also works part-time at the Canada Science and Technology Museum, loves to read, write, and watch movies.
Emma Martin (She/Her) – B.A. Linguistics, Concentration in Psycholinguistics and Communication Disorders. Minor in Psychology
Emma enjoys being in school and loves linguistics. She has also done well in school, receiving a scholarship for her academic accomplishments. She loves reading, working with children and camping. Emma wants to be a FASS Ambassador to become more part of the Carleton community and to teach people more about linguistics and what an undergrad in linguistics looks like.
Ayah Aboudeeb (She/Her) B.A. Psychology
I'm passionate about psychology. Coming from a place where mental health isn't talked about much, I want to change that. I want to be the person who spreads awareness and positivity about it. I'm super into helping others and making a difference on campus and off-campus. I'm totally interested into trying new stuff and getting information. I'm the kind of university student who's all up for trying out different things and learning from different places. It's like, the more I dive into this stuff, the more I can grow and know. Becoming a FASS Ambassador aligns with my passion for the faculty, offering a chance to enhance my communication and leadership skills. Representing FASS at events, engaging in outreach, and contributing to communication efforts would allow me to share my enthusiasm for the faculty while connecting with prospective students. The role's multifaceted nature presents an ideal platform for personal growth and meaningful contribution.
Anastasia Wasylinko (She/Her) – Bachelor of Music, Minor in Korean
Anastasia is a third-year student from BC majoring in music and minoring in Korean. Some of her highlights at Carleton include being involved in several of Carleton's many clubs, competing in Carleton's Linguavision contest, and singing the Ukrainian national anthem at a Senators hockey game. Aside from practicing piano, she loves baking, hiking, K-Pop, and almost anything Lord of the Rings-related. She wants to be a FASS Ambassador because she loves telling people about her program and trying to convince them to join it as well.
Kegan Rumig (He/Him) – B.A. Double Major in History and Greek & Roman Studies, Minor in English
Kegan is in his final year of a dual History and Greek & Roman Studies major. In 2022, Kegan was the recipient of the Fitzroy Township Historical Society award. In his free time, Kegan enjoys sitting down with a good fantasy book, or playing video games. Kegan sees the FASS ambassadorship as a way to both get involved in the Carleton community, and help guide prospective students for the arts.
Danielle Barnett (she/Her) – B.A. Combined Honours in Women's & Gender Studies and Communication & Media Studies
Hailing from Barbados, Danielle is a third-year student in both Communication & Media Studies and Women's and Gender Studies. When she isn't reading or singing off key, she loves learning about other cultures and ways of knowing. Danielle is eager to connect with current and prospective students in the Carleton community through the FASS Ambassador program.
Kaelan McPherson (He/Him) – B.A. Honours Psychology
Kaelan McPherson is a third year Psychology student with a passion for the topic that has propelled him to pursue extracurricular opportunities and interests, mostly assisted by programs offered by Carleton University. He wishes to assist other students in navigating the many possible opportunities through being a FASS Ambassador. Aside from his topic of study, Kaelan’s other interests include martial arts, cooking, and history.
Liza Kahwaji (She/Her) - Bachelors of Cognitive Science (concentrating in Cognition and Psychology) with a minor in Disability studies
Liza is a fourth year Cognitive Science student concentrating in Cognition and Psychology and minoring in Disability Studies. Liza’s passion for cognitive science has led her to work as a research assistant. Liza is the president of the Carleton Cognitive Science Association (CCSA) for the 2023-2024 academic year. Outside of academia, she enjoys reading and adventuring with her friends. As a FASS student ambassador, Liza hopes to be a greater part of the amazing Carleton community.
Saghar Shadabi (She/Her) - Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology with a Concentration in Social Psychology and a Stream in Mental Health and Well-Being
Saghar moved to Ottawa from Winnipeg, Manitoba, to finish her undergraduate degree in Psychology. She dreams of one day working as a mental health therapist, and hopes to help increase the accessibility to mental health resources for marginalized communities. Saghar has found a passion for helping students pursue their academic goals through her work as a Psychology Facilitator for the Enriched Support Program here at Carleton. She loves animals and nature, so you can find her swimming in a lake, or hiking in a forest, on any given day. Saghar also loves movies, so give her your best recommendations whenever you see her around campus!
