Each year, funding permitting, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences awards the Marston LaFrance Research Fellowship to one of its outstanding faculty members, in order to facilitate the completion of a major research project that requires significant release time.We stress that the Marston LaFrance Research Fellowship is open to all research disciplines across FASS. While in the past, the award has usually facilitated the completion of a book-length manuscript, we want to be clear that it is not designed solely for that purpose. The Marston LaFrance is intended to facilitate the culmination of a major research program or a significant insight that moves scholarship forward. Undertakings could include, for example, the completion of a series of thematic experiments, a major research creation project, a series of conceptually-linked research projects, a large community-based project, a major multidisciplinary study, or the completion of a book. The fellowship consists of up to 2.0 credits of teaching release, and holders are required to maintain their service commitments and supervise graduate students. A list of recent Awardees is presented at the end of this announcement.
A current curriculum vitae must be appended to the application.
