A majority of my job is making sure that the product labels are updated and accurate. I begin most of my days by looking ahead at the production schedule to see which labels do need to be updated and making sure information such as the ingredients, allergens, and nutrition facts tables are accurate (to name a few). I work on the creation of product specification sheets for all our products to send to marketing for website updates and as needed by quality assurance. I also collect up to date ingredient specification sheets from suppliers in a database that allows you to see which ingredients are substitutable.
My future goals are…
I would love to have a job that works more with food safety and food recalls. That has been a top interest of mine, and to me, it would be a very rewarding job. I would love to work for CFIA and participating in inspections and recalls.

Providing me an opportunity to work within the food industry in product development. My current position requires me to liaise with various departments including production, marketing, product development, and quality assurance which allowed me to gain connections in different areas of the food industry. It has also been fun to see different stages of food production first hand, as I started out at Apetito HFS working on the production floor.
My advice for current students is…
Connections! It is very important to make connections and to maintain those connections.
