A typical day at work looks like…
A typical day includes preparing cannabis samples for potency testing and appropriately updating and reflecting any inventory changes
My future goals are…
To become involved with food product development with regards to the changing demands from consumers (i.e. dairy free, vegan, vegetarian, low sugar etc).
My degree has helped me get to where I am today by…
My degree has provided an extensive background knowledge regarding food, the science behind it and the industry in terms of rules and regulations. It also has provided hands on lab experience and basic knowledge for working in a science based industry.
My advice for current students is…
Co-op! I cannot stress enough how important it is and would have been if it was implemented during my undergrad. Working experience would have aided in finding work in my field much sooner. If your program does not offer it, volunteering would also be a good way to gain experience.
