CFP: Women, Activism and Social Change

The Sociology and Anthropology Graduate Student Association (SAGSA) at the University of Ottawa invites abstract submissions and workshop participants for our first annual conference on Women, Activism and Social Change. The conference will be held on Wednesday, April 18th and Thursday, April 19th, 2018 at the University of Ottawa.
We encourage submissions from graduate students and faculty members alike that interrogate the different expressions or forms of women’s activism (the informal and gendered forms of political mobilisation); how these forms of activism can relate to women’s agency and empowerment; and how such activism are establishing change at all levels of society (locally, nationally, and transnationally).
We also encourage graduate students, particularly those studying women and activism, to participate in our research workshops, where students will have the opportunity to ask questions pertaining to their work in progress.

L’association des étudiants des cycles supérieurs en sociologie et anthropologie (AÉCSSA) de l’université d’Ottawa accepte des résumés et des participants aux ateliers offerts dans le cadre de sa première conférence annuelle dont le thème est Femmes, activisme et changement social. La conférence aura lieu mercredi le 18 et jeudi le 19 avril, 2018 à l’université d’Ottawa.
Nous encourageons les étudiants gradués et les membres du corps professoral à soumettre des soumissions qui interrogent les différentes formes ou expressions de l’activisme des femmes (les formes informelles et genrées de mobilisation); comment ces formes d’activisme peuvent se rapporter à l’agentivité et à l’autonomisation des femmes; et comment un tel activisme établit un changement à tous les niveaux de la société (local, national et transnational).
Nous invitons également les étudiants gradués, en particulier ceux qui étudient les femmes et l’activisme, à participer à nos ateliers de recherche, où les étudiants auront l’occasion de poser des questions relatives à leur travail en cours.
