Creating an Individual Development Plan

November 24, 2023 at 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM

Location:Online
Audience:Current Students

Description:

One effective way to take control of your professional development and career trajectory is to create an Individual Development Plan or IDP. An IDP is a document that you create, in which you (1) identify and catalog the skills you have developed in school and work, (2) set long-term career goals, and (3) set short-term professional development goals for the next year. It can be updated every year.

In this workshop we’ll show you the basic template of an IDP and introduce you to some online IDP tools that you can use for free.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand why IDPs are used as professional development tools.
  • Learn the components of a basic IDP
  • Find out about online IDPs that have been developed specifically for university students
