So you want to use GIS in your research…

June 11, 2024 at 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Location:Online
Audience:Current Students

If you’re thinking about using GIS (geographic information systems) in your research but aren’t sure where or how to start, this workshop is for you.

We won’t be working in any GIS software but we will introduce GIS and spatial analysis concepts and examples, categories of data you may encounter, how to select a GIS software, and general tips for starting a GIS project. We want to help set you up for success and will leave plenty of time for questions.

Learning outcomes:

Know what GIS is and examples of what kind of analysis is possible; different types of GIS data; selecting a GIS software; tips for getting started with a GIS project

Workshop leaders:

Rebecca Bartlett, GIS Librarian
Meaghan Kenny, Geospatial Data Services Specialist

Please note: because this session is not taking place during the Fall or Winter terms, it cannot count toward paid pedagogical training hours for those working as TAs.
