Writing in the Workplace

Description:

This workshop introduces participants to key principles of writing in the workplace. The discussion includes the major differences between academic and workplace writing, issues pertaining to business writing and effective organization of information, as well as adapting one’s writing based on context, audience, and expectations. Participants will be presented with writing samples that demonstrate how the principles discussed are put into practice. Participants also gain insights into how professional writers edit text to improve clarity, conciseness, and overall organization.

  • Identify the main differences between academic and business writing styles
  • Identify the key components of business writing style
  • Assess text in line with criteria such as clarity, cohesion, conciseness, and organization
  • Edit text to improve its overall efficacy and impact
