The Friends of Greek and Roman Studies Society
The Friends of Greek and Roman Studies was created in 2010 as a way to keep in touch with alumni and to share program news and events with people interested in the ancient world. Membership is voluntary, free, and open to the public. The society publishes semi-annually the FGRS Newsletter which is sent out electronically to all interested parties. It includes profiles of alumni and faculty, announcements of upcoming guest lectures and community events, and descriptions of program activities such as study abroad trips, and the annual dramatic reading of a Greek tragedy. In this, FGRS accomplishes its aim “to bring together those interested in the Greco/Roman world and promote an awareness and appreciation of the importance of the contributions of the Greeks and Romans to modern culture.” (FGRS Newsletter vol.1, p.1)
