Inspired by the book Beautiful Scars: Steeltown Secrets, Mohawk Skywalkers and the Road Home by Tom Wilson
Uncovering the truth never sounded so good.
Beautiful Scars tells the story of Tom Wilson (Blackie and the Rodeo Kings) and his search for truth and identity when a long-held family secret comes to light. The musical, inspired by Wilson’s bestselling memoir of the same name, follows his journey from Hamilton’s east Mountain to the Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) community of Kahnawake. Join a talented cast, starring Sheldon Elter as Tom Wilson, as they reveal long-hidden secrets and build a path toward understanding, belonging, and cultural celebration.
Co-written by Wilson and Shaun Smyth and performed by a powerhouse ensemble, the show blends theatrical storytelling with music from Wilson’s expansive catalogue. Beautiful Scars becomes both personal portrait and grand reflection as it uncovers the truth and the beauty in embracing it.
While this production is based on Tom Wilson’s life story and music, Tom Wilson will not be performing on stage.
The performance on September 12 at 7:30 PM will be interpreted in American Sign Language (ASL).
