*Note: The above table does not include fees for health or dental. IESP students are not automatically enrolled in the student health and dental plan, nor charged any fees. The costs to opt in for the 2022-2023 year will be announced in August; please see the Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) website for more information. The deadline to opt-in to the health/dental plan is September 30, 2022.
Payment for your Fall Term is due by August 25, 2022 and your Winter Term fees are due November 25, 2022 to avoid additional charges. If you are planning to apply for student loans, be sure to apply as soon as possible (there is no need to wait for an admissions decision to begin your application). If you will be receiving funding from a Government Student Aid Program such as OSAP, you may be eligible to defer fee payment beyond the August 25 payment deadline (to mid-September for the Fall and mid-January for the Winter).
What if I pay after the deadline?
Late charges will be applied. Detailed payment information can be found on the Student Accounts website: carleton.ca/fees. Please contact our Student Accounts office if you have any concerns about payment at 613-520-3626 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Do I have to pay for both terms at the same time?
No – while many students and parents prefer to pay the entire academic year up-front, you do have an option to pay by term, provided your payments are received by the associated deadlines (August 25th for the fall and November 25th for winter term fees). Make sure you are aware of the late and interest charge penalties for late payment, as well as our financial hold policy.
How can I check my balance?
You may check your balance online via Carleton Central. Click on “Calculate Amount to Pay” from the “Registration” menu. The ‘Total Amount to Pay’ amount is your account balance. The ‘Minimum Amount to Pay’ amount is the balance for your fall term (if electing to pay by term).
Students should expect to budget about $20,000 per year if living away from home.
Please see the Awards Office website for interactive resources to help you with calculating your costs.
Bursaries are monetary awards based on financial need. Some bursary support is available to IESP students demonstrating financial need. See the Awards Office website for details on applying for a bursary. Most IESP students apply for a bursary in the fall, and if successful, receive it for the winter semester.
Students enrolled in the IESP may be eligible, if qualified, for assistance under one or more of the following components of the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP):
- the Canada Student Loans Program (CSL)
- the Ontario Student Loans Plan (OSL)
You apply for both of these programs on one application through the OSAP website. Students enrolling in the IESP full-time are considered to be in a 100% course load.
Not all provinces fund our program. For further information about financial support available to ESP/IESP students, please contact Carleton’s Awards Office.
