Deliah Bernard is a trusted Indigenous Affairs strategist and proud Mi’kmaw woman from the We’koqma’q First Nation. Grounded in a commitment to giving back to community, she brings a rare combination of lived experience, institutional fluency, and deep community knowledge to complex policy and relationship-building work.
Most recently, Deliah served as Senior Indigenous Affairs Advisor to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, helping advance some of Canada’s most significant Indigenous policy files. Her experience includes supporting the Government of Canada’s response to the Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, managing Pope Francis’s historic visit to Canada, and coordinating the Cabinet Committee on Reconciliation.
Known as a thoughtful bridge-builder, Deliah navigates sensitive political, cultural, and community landscapes with clarity and care. At Roots Strategies, she helps clients build culturally responsive approaches grounded in trust, respect, and lasting relationships.
