2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the Iron Ring Ceremony in Canada, a significant milestone for the Canadian engineering community. We are proud to have many local companies in Kanata with employees with engineering backgrounds. The Iron Ring, traditionally worn on the little finger of the working hand, serves as a constant reminder of the moral, ethical, and professional obligations that come with the engineering profession.
To celebrate this occasion, we’re pleased to offer an opportunity for our engineering community to engage with this tradition. A representative from the Iron Ring Ceremonies will be onsite:
Date: Tuesday February 11, 2025
Time: 8:00am-5:00pm
Location: Carleton Universtiy at Kanata, 350 Legget Drive, Suite 101
You may want to stop by if:
- You have an Iron Ring and wish to exchange it for a better fit or due to wear and tear—free of charge.
- You had an Iron Ring but need a replacement—available for $20.
- You hold an engineering degree (Canadian or International) and want information about attending a ceremony to receive your Iron Ring.
- Attending an Iron Ring ceremony as an obligated engineer.
- You have an Iron Ring and are interested in volunteering to help run ceremonies in Ottawa.
This is a great chance to reconnect with the engineering community and learn more about this century-old tradition.
