Course Description:

 As a multi-disciplinary course, Introduction to Latin American and the Caribbean (LACS 1002) is designed to familiarize students with the region as it encompasses many different countries over a long period of time. The course will address the topics that have shaped Latin American and the Caribbean through history. Moreover, it will provide students with the contemporary issues that nowadays affect Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as its people. This course will cover themes such as social movements, popular culture, migration, the drug trade, and the impact of globalization.
