If you need help focusing your attention on writing in these unpredictable times, need a regular check-in to help you stay accountable to your writing goals, or need a space to meet with others to talk about writing, then this weekly workshop is for you!

We will meet for twelve Thursday afternoon sessions, from January 20 to April 14, 2022, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.  No meeting is scheduled during Reading Week, Feb. 24.

The sessions will help keep your academic writing a priority, even during a busy academic term in the midst of a continuing pandemic.  We will focus on our craft, discipline, perseverance, and the passion we experience in writing, in a non-judgmental and supportive space where we hope we will have fun together!

Following the weekly plan laid out in Belcher’s Workbook, including advanced readings and daily assigned tasks, we will spend approximately 30 minutes sharing our writing successes and challenges at the beginning of each meeting and the remaining time is for an open discussion of the ideas presented by Belcher in the weekly readings. A complimentary copy of Wendy Belcher’s Writing your Journal Article in 12 Weeks: A Guide to Academic Publishing Success, Second Edition will be made available to you if you do not already have a copy.

The sessions are meant to, “aid you in revising a classroom essay, conference paper, BA or MA thesis, dissertation chapter, talk, or unpublished article and sending it to the editor of a suitable academic journal, and will help encourage us to make writing a daily practice, to make writing social, and address both technical and emotional writing challenges.
