In partnership with Moi University and our NGO partners, including CARE, we are now recruiting for a research placement in Kenya, focusing on “Localization of Humanitarian Action”.
Post-graduate students from Carleton University, McGill University, University of Ottawa or York University are eligible to apply. LERRN is looking for applicants with experience working in comparable contexts to Kenya and prior research experience in refugee and forced migration studies.
Applications are due by 9am EST, 24 February 2020 (reference: ‘RPP: Kenya – Localization’).
Successful candidate will be required to participate in a mandatory training organized by LERRN in May 2020, and be available to undertake a 4-week research placement in Kenya in the period of July-August 2020.

LERRN will cover the following costs for the successful candidate:
- Economy round-trip airfare
- Necessary domestic travel for the purposes of the project
- Modest accommodation and a stipend for meals
- The cost of visa, research permit and vaccinations necessary for travel
LERRN will also provide:
- Field and Safety Training
- Reception and orientation in the host country
- Supervision and mentorship during the fieldwork portion of the sub-project
- Administrative and logistical support for the in-country process of securing research permits and making necessary travel and logistical arrangements
