My Eyes Have Seen
April 7 2022

This was one of the prompts given on our last lifelong learning class. Initially, I was hesitant to approach this because it is such an immense undertaking. However, I after I put pen to paper and given a less than 10 minutes time limit, the ideas began to flow.

My eyes have seen a lot. No wonder I need glasses. There’s so much to say with the title as grandiose as this. My usual approach is to break this down into smaller parts, then attack each one. After doing so, each subdivision may continue to expand on it’s own, or I hope, somehow coalesce together to reflect, in an overall sense, what my eyes have seen.

My eyes have seen the family of my childhood, falling in love with my wife, our own family, the homes we have lived in and so many adventures that emerged. My eyes are now seeing the families of our children with their children. My eyes have seen my friends and my eyes have seen my professional life.

I have been lucky enough to have travelled to many wonderful places that my visual memory will never forget.

Throughout my life so far, my eyes have witnessed great joy and happiness, great pain and sorrow, cruelty, wisdom and kindness, and love, at all levels.

My eyes are not yet done, I hope they’re ready for what’s coming.
