Overview

This workshop has been designed to put into practice the knowledge acquired in the basic levels of Spanish. Through different activities, for example: group activities, short readings, short films, etc. You will have the opportunity to practice your Spanish according to the topic of each class. It is also a good opportunity to increase your vocabulary, improve your pronunciation and keep your language active.

Please note: Participants will require basic knowledge and understanding of the Spanish Language.

Topics

Week 1 – Vamos a conocernos (Let’s get to know each other). In this first class we are going to introduce ourselves and get to know each of our classmates in a basic way.

Week 2 – La familia (Family). You will practice family vocabulary, family relationships, and descriptions.

Week 3 – Tu casa, tu hogar (Your house, your home). Your house, your home is a place of comfort. You will use vocabulary and expressions from home.

Week 4 – Tus gustos (Your likes).You will talk about your likes in food, sports, our free time and more.

Week 5 Topic – Tus actividades diarias (Your daily activities). You will use the vocabulary about routine and the activities you do during the day.

Week 6 – Los amigos, la Amistad (Friends and friendship). Friends, friendship is part of our life, our relationships. It will be a good opportunity to practice vocabulary on this topic.

About the Lecturer

Luz-Patricia Lopez is an experienced instructor with more than 20 years of teaching Spanish to different demographic groups for the public and private sector in Canada. Originally from Mexico City, she holds a post-degree diploma “Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language’’ from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and Master’s degree in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Ottawa. She is passionate about incorporating cultural aspects into her classes to make them more enjoyable.
