The research group has a new publication in the Elsevier journal, Ocean Engineering.

Research highlights:

  • A simple hydraulic valve is used to perform active heave compensation.
  • A proposed model predictive control algorithm is simulated & experimentally verified.
  • The proposed control algorithm out performed a traditional controller.
  • Model accuracy was not a critical component of the control algorithm.
  • The final controller decoupled up to 99.6% of the transmitted motion.
