Several opportunities are available for skilled and motivated students interested in joining the lab. Students who wish to pursue research in the areas of control, robotics, system dynamics are always welcome. In general, we focus on applications to the marine and aerospace communities. Our projects have a basis in fundamental research and theoretical development with experimental validation using industrial or laboratory hardware. Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and LabVIEW is very useful.

Graduate Students

We are currently searching to fill a PhD position whose work would focus on determining the optimal time and mothership conditions to recover a tethered underwater sensor or vehicle. Alternatively, MASc and PhD positions are available to work on various aspects of maritime crane and winch control systems.

Prospective students interested in joining the lab and satisfying all admission requirements should apply online. Exceptional students with strong GPAs (10.5 and above) are highly encouraged to seek funding through prestigious external sources, such as the NSERC and OGS programs.

Undergraduate Students

There are several opportunities for NSERC USRA-eligible domestic undergraduate students who wish to join as Research Assistants over the course of a semester. If interested, please contact Dr. Irani directly.
