The Centre for Refugee Studies is pleased to announce a Visiting Scholar of Practice position i at York University for the 2017-2018 academic year. We invite applicants who have graduate training in their field and work in the non-governmental and intergovernmental sectors related to forced migration (in Canada or abroad) and would like to be a scholar in residence for one year to submit their applications by July 1, 2017 to the CRS Director.
Junior and senior applicants are welcome to apply, but each should be able to demonstrate at least 5 years of sector/community-based work as a researcher or practitioner in a field related to forced migration, asylum/refugee settlement, environmental displacement or humanitarian response. The Visiting Scholar of Practice position is intended to provide a space to share experience, network with other scholars, and participate in the life of the Centre.
CRS offers shared work space, library access, ongoing affiliation with CRS, an opportunity to present your work through the CRS seminar series and in undergraduate and graduate classrooms, and contact with other scholars within York University working in the related fields. CRS does not have funds for a stipend or honorarium. Visiting scholars of practice are expected to participate in select activities organized by CRS.

Please send a CV and cover letter/email outlining your rationale and interest in the position, as well as the name of at least one reference. 2-3 page proposal outlining the research project you plan to undertake while in residence at York University, two recent publications, an up-to-date curriculum vitae and the names and contact information of two references.
