The mission of the Centre in Modern Turkish Studies (MTS) is the scholarly study of the Republic of Türkiye, established in 1923 under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The Centre is an academic unit within the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs and operates under the regulations of Carleton University. ‘Scholarly study’ covers multi-disciplinary teaching, research and publication, and community out-reach activities. The Centre is rooted in the Turkish-Canadian community whose generous contributions to the University are facilitated by the Council of Turkish Canadians in collaboration with the Department of University Development.
