Board Pleased Bargaining Teams Returning to Table with Mediator

March 27, 2018

To all Members of the Carleton Community,

CUPE Local 2424’s decision yesterday to return to the bargaining table is a welcome step in the negotiations process.

The parties will meet with the assistance of an external, expert mediator on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. The return to the bargaining table with the assistance of a mediator will allow the parties to focus on negotiating a settlement.

Due to the ongoing picketing blocking entrances to campus, the volunteer Board of Governors is proceeding with its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 via a teleconference call.

The Board is committed to carrying on the regular business of the Board on behalf of the University.  The audio teleconference will be broadcast live in Southam Hall, room 617 at 4 p.m. for those who wish to listen to the proceedings.

The Board and the university remain focused on trying to resolve the impasse. The university’s priorities continue to centre on ensuring that core services and supports are provided to Carleton students.
