Carleton University will host the annual Ottawa Youth Conference, organized by Colonel By Secondary School in partnership with the Faculty of Public Affairs, recognizing the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Mass Atrocities.

The conference, A Day of Understanding, Learning and Action, explores the trials and triumphs of people who have come to Canada as refugees – educating and inspiring students from across Ottawa through a keynote address, expert panel discussion and workshops.

When: Monday, April 23, 2018, remarks begin at 9:10 a.m., conference ends at 2:30 p.m.
Where: Second floor conference rooms, lecture hall and atrium, Richcraft Hall, Carleton University
Info: The full conference program can be found online.

Media are invited to attend the event.

The issue of refugees and global aid is pressing and it’s imperative Canadians learn more about it. The conference will include diverse first-hand experiences of refugees, case studies on refugee crises around the world, and the work of numerous refugee agencies abroad and in Ottawa. The event will include a guided interactive tour of the Médecins sans frontières Refugee Tent City Mini Exhibit.
