CUPE 2424 Bargaining Update No. 18 – Update on Mediated Negotiations

March 29, 2018

Carleton University and CUPE 2424 met for 19 hours on March 28/29 with the assistance of an expert mediator.  The parties worked into the early hours, however, talks were adjourned.  The mediator will follow up with both parties about continuing the process.  The University is committed to returning to the bargaining table and is hopeful that negotiations will resume as soon as possible.

The university campus is open and regularly scheduled classes will continue as usual.

Members of the university community are reminded to exercise caution and patience when crossing the picket lines.

During a legal strike, the striking union has the right to establish a picket line at the vehicle entrances to campus. A picketing protocol signed by the university and the union remains in place with expectations communicated to the union and picket captains.  All drivers, pedestrians and cyclists are asked to exercise caution and patience when approaching and exiting a picket line.
