Cook is a historian at the Canadian War Museum (CWM) and a former director of Canada’s History Society. His research interests include Canada and the world wars, public history, war and memory, and the social and cultural history of soldiers. He was the curator for the First World War permanent gallery at the CWM and has curated additional temporary, travelling and digital exhibitions. He is the author of more than 40 refereed articles and seven books, including The Necessary War: Canadians Fighting the Second World War.
