Carleton Neuroscience Students and Ottawa Neuroscience Chapter Celebrate Brain Awareness Week

March 8, 2019

Carleton University neuroscience students and the Society for Neuroscience (SfN) Ottawa chapter will host multi-day Brain Awareness Week activities.

During March break, students can have fun learning with Backyard Brains kits. Visitors will get the opportunity to control a robotic claw with signals sent from their brain, see their brainwaves onscreen and view electrical signals that are sent to muscles on a computer.

When: March 12 to 15, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Canada Science and Technology Museum, 1867 St. Laurent Boulevard, Ottawa
Info: Regular museum admission fees apply. All ages are welcome.

Media are invited to attend the event.

The Ottawa SfN chapter is supported and sponsored by Carleton’s Department of Neuroscience and is run by graduate students. Winner of the 2018 Best Chapter award from the International Society for Neuroscience, SfN Ottawa works to support collaborative knowledge-sharing on neuroscience topics and brain science outreach in the Ottawa community. The chapter hosts a variety of annual events, including the Ottawa Brain Bee for high school students (Apr. 27) and the Brain and Mental Health Art Show (Apr. 5), with proceeds going to local Ottawa mental health initiatives.
