Carleton Community Mourns the Passing of Martin Rudner
The Carleton University community is saddened to learn of the passing of Martin Rudner, Professor Emeritus and Distinguished Research Professor at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs in the Faculty of Public Affairs.
“Martin made significant contributions to Canada and Carleton University,” said Rafik Goubran, Vice-President, Research and International. “He was a key player in several successful initiatives at Carleton including in the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, the Infrastructure Protection and International Security Program and in knowledge transfer. He was a valued member of the academic community across Canada and will be greatly missed.”
Rudner passed away in Ottawa on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019. He joined Carleton in 1984 and retired in 2007.
His academic interests were wide-ranging. His research and writing explored issues of intelligence studies, international intelligence relations, terrorism finance, terrorism and counter-terrorism, critical energy infrastructure protection policy and intelligence accountability and oversight. He also collaborated with academics at a national and international level on various research projects. His advice and expertise was widely sought by governments and organizations around the world.
A service to honour Martin will be held on Monday, Dec. 16, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chevra Kadisha Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue, Ottawa. Interment will follow at the Osgoode Cemetery, 6549 Herberts Corners Road, Greely.
