National Day of Remembrance and Action on Mass Atrocities Youth Conference to take place at Carleton
Carleton University will host the seventh annual National Day of Remembrance and Action on Mass Atrocities Youth Conference, organized by students and teachers from the Ottawa District School Board. The conference is supported by Carleton’s Faculty of Public Affairs.
Bringing together 750 students and teachers, the conference will feature workshops on important topics, including Indigenous truths; Indigenous activism and cultural resilience; and building trust between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
When: April 23 and 24, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
Where: Various room locations, Richcraft Hall, Carleton University

The conference will provide an opportunity to acknowledge Canada’s challenging history of cultural genocide and move beyond into new understandings. Students will hear from various Indigenous guests and non-Indigenous allies who will explain their work and perspectives on reconciliation.
Conference presenters include keynote speaker Rosanna Deerchild, host of CBC Radio One’s Unreserved and First Words, artist and writer Jay Odjick, Crystal Semaganis of CBC’s Finding Cleo, entrepreneur Justin Holness and musical duo Twin Flames.
