Carment’s research focuses on Canadian foreign policy, mediation and negotiation, fragile states and diaspora politics. He is the editor of Canadian Foreign Policy Journal and is a fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute. He is the author, editor or co-editor of 21 books, and has authored or co-authored more than 90 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters. His most recent books focus on diaspora co-operation, corruption in Canada, branding Canadian foreign policy and state fragility. In 2017, Carment was a visiting scholar at the World Institute for Development Economics Research, Finland, and in 2015 was a fellow at the Centre for Global Cooperation Research, Germany.

He regularly provides media commentary at home and abroad on a wide range of topics, providing context and deep background to the news stories of the day. Tepper’s areas of expertise include American politics, diversity issues in Canada, geopolitics, immigration and multiculturalism.
