Carleton Hosts Seizing the Moment: Exploring Just and Sustainable Pandemic Recovery through Community-Campus Partnerships

The Carleton Centre for Community Innovation (3ci), is the Ontario host for a two-day online workshop focused on how community and campus partnerships can help build a just and sustainable pandemic recovery at local, regional and national levels.

The workshop brings together community-based organizations, post-secondary faculty and students, and members of community-campus engagement offices from across Canada. It will focus on the impacts of COVID-19 experienced within communities, and how people can work together to strengthen community resilience beyond the pandemic.

The event will feature Carleton University’s Prof. Peter Andrée, Department of Political Science, and Carleton alumna Magda Goemans delivering a keynote presentation titled, Building resilience to future large-scale challenges through community-campus collaboration. This presentation will recap key lessons learned about gaps in non-profit and public infrastructure exposed by the COVID pandemic, before considering how partnerships between community-based organizations and the post-secondary sector can help address future challenges.

Through an engaging panel, keynote speakers, and facilitated sessions, participants in the workshop will reflect on the steps taken by community partners and consider paths for community-campus partnerships to address impacts of this crisis and beyond including:
