Jeremy Laliberté
Associate Professor, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University

Laliberté’s research focuses on certification and airworthiness testing such as materials qualification for aircraft structures and airframe design.  He also studies air traffic control and airspace management.  He is available to comment on how aircraft structures are designed and built to provide protection to passengers and crew during emergencies.  He can discuss the regulations covering required evacuation times – no more than 90 seconds with half of the exits inoperable – regardless of the size of aircraft, and regulations governing the loads seats must withstand, specialized training for flight attendants to handle such emergencies, etc.

Jurek Sasiadek
Professor, Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University

Sasiadek’s research interests includes: robotics, space robotics, guidance, navigation and control of mobile and flying robots, sensor and data fusion, adaptive control, aircraft and spacecraft control, flexible structure control, and nonlinear control.

He is a Director of American Automatic Control Council (AACC) and member of AIAA Guidance, Navigation and Control Technical Committee (since 1989). He is also an Associate Editor and International Advisor of AIAA Journal of Guidance, Dynamics and Control. He was a Program Chair (1992) in Phoenix, Arizona and General Chair (2002) in Montreal, Quebec of AIAA Guidance, Navigation and Control Conference. He was also many times a member of ACC (American Control Conference) Program Committee.
