Looking Back at Convocation 2025

Last week, more than 5,400 Carleton University students received their degrees as family, friends and the campus community came together to celebrate their years of dedication and academic achievements. 

The celebrations began with a milestone event – the installation of Wisdom J. Tettey as Carleton’s 17th President and Vice-Chancellor. 

The excitement continued across 15 ceremonies, highlighted by the awarding of two honorary doctorates. Mona Nemer was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa, in recognition of her international academic leadership in cardiovascular sciences and her work as a champion for Canadian science research. Faculty of Engineering and Design alum Hassan Ahmed was awarded the degree of Doctor of Engineering, honoris causa, in recognition of his distinguished career as an esteemed business leader and entrepreneur in wireless network technology and telecommunications. 

The week concluded with the installation of Nikita (Nik) Nanosas Carleton’s 13th Chancellor. His appointment takes effect onJuly 1.
