The Ottawa Chapter of the Science to Business Network (S2BN) is proud to present the second year of our Mentorship Program.
Are you an ambitious STEM – based graduate, looking to learn more about industry and make the transition to a career outside of academia? If so, this is the perfect opportunity to connect with experienced individuals within your field of interest, receive guidance and advice as you cultivate a meaningful, professional relationship.
For the 2021 cohort, up to 15 graduate students and/or postdoctoral fellows will be selected to participate in the Mentorship Program. This year, the Mentorship Program will be virtual, and will include Mentors from across Canada.
Program Details:
This mentorship program will run for 6 months from February to July 2021, but encourages the formation of a lasting relationship that will continue to grow and develop beyond the program’s completion. During this time, you (the mentee) will organize 1-on-1 sessions with your paired mentor where you will gather knowledge, advice, and feedback according to your own goals.
Mentees must commit to 6 meetings with a mentor over the next six months. Mentees are encouraged to meet once per month, however we encourage having more meetings, which can be determined through the mentor-mentee agreement.
At the end of the program mentors and mentees will be required to provide feedback and an evaluation of the program. Mentors and mentees may be contacted at a later time to assess long-term impact.
Eligibility:
You must be attending either Carleton University or the University of Ottawa (but can currently reside outside of Ottawa) at the Master’s, PhD or Postdoctoral level, and in a STEM-based field of study.
