We were thrilled to announce Carleton University’s Queen Elizabeth Scholarship -Advanced Scholars- West Africa (QES-AS-WA) End of Project Event was on October 9, 2024, from 12pm to 2:30pm at DT 2017. This event celebrated the achievements of our scholars and marked the successful conclusion of the QES-AS-WA project.
The presence of Dr. Anne Bowker, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, enriched the event. Her support and insights were truly inspiring for our scholars.
We welcomed faculty, staff, mentors, and research placement partners to join this gathering, either in person or online. Since its inception, the QES-AS-WA project had empowered scholars to conduct meaningful research that addresses key global challenges, strengthening partnerships between Canada and West Africa.
The project fostered cross-cultural collaboration, leadership, and innovation, contributing to the advancement of research and professional development for scholars across various disciplines. The event featured a dynamic seminar session where scholars from diverse academic backgrounds presented their research papers. These presentations highlighted the meaningful contributions they have made throughout their time in the project. As a hybrid event, some of the scholars presented in person while others will join virtually, ensuring a rich exchange of knowledge across borders.
This event highlighted the exceptional work of our scholars and discussed how the knowledge and networks built through this initiative have impacted their work and would continue to influence their professional journeys.
Two of our dedicated scholars, Ijeoma and Celina, helped in coordination efforts for the seminar portion of the event. We extended our deepest thanks to them for their hard work in organizing the seminar. Our gratitude to Dr. Onita Basu, who has graciously agreed to moderate the seminar and facilitate the discussions.
The QES-AS-WA project has been a testament to the power of international cooperation, enabling scholars to build capacity, deepen their research, and form lasting connections.
