Department of Chemistry
Dipto Sarkar: Co-Project PI
Associate Professor
Department of Geography and Environmental Studies
His research operates at the intersection of Geographic Information Science, human geography, and digital geography. He focuses on modelling spatial interactions to address challenges in biodiversity conservation and urban geography. A significant portion of his research examines the human dimensions of conservation. He investigates the socioecological impacts of conservation policies on local communities. Much of this fieldwork is based around Kibale National Park in Uganda. He studies the relationships between adjacent populations and protected environments. His approach integrates geospatial technologies and network analysis with community surveys. He aims to produce spatially informed solutions that promote sustainable conservation models.
