Biosketch

I am a PhD. Candidate at the Department of History and Political studies, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. I am an ardent believer of empowering young people to discover their true selves and interests. I enjoy singing and chronicling events around me.

Research Interests

My research interests are centered around gender relations in Asante, education in Asante and forest history. My current research looks at how man has utilized forests for his social, economic, spiritual and healthcare needs. Particularly, I employ a multi-disciplinary approach to analyze the socio-ecological drivers of forest loss in the Bobiri Forest Reserve of Ghana.

Expectations as a QES Scholar during the Mobility Period

  • It is my expectation to leverage on the resources and expertise of the QES project to sharpen my research skills.
  • I expect to get a better understanding and use of satellite imagery and apply it to the context of my research.
  • I hope to expand my network of scholars from diverse disciplines and backgrounds for potential research collaboration.
  • I also hope to produce a research paper for publication by the end of this project.

The QES Project and Advancement of your Career

Three major areas have been identified as crucial to my career projection; knowledge, network and exposure. My participation in the QES project offers me the opportunity to acquire knowledge which will have enormous influence on the timely completion of my PhD. Beyond this, I believe the knowledge gained will also shape my teaching philosophies and activities.

Again, my participation in the QES project will expose me to new research methods, techniques and theories.  Likewise, other opportunities like the social media presence and interaction will connect me to conferences, seminars and research grants opportunities within my field of interest.

I also hope to build lasting relationship with fellow QES scholars and other scholars for research activities.
