Biosketch
I am Josephine Joseph Mkunda, a lecturer. I have multi-disciplinary academic background comprised of a BSc in Food Science and Technology, Masters in Agricultural and PhD in International Marketing and Trade. Before joining NM-AIST, I worked with intergovernmental and non-government organizations. I have also been offering consultancies services to non- governmental organizations.
Research Interests and societal interests
I have wide research interest covering areas of business strategies; business models, entrepreneurship and innovation management; international trade; analysis of value chains and Innovations; Policies and Food Security as well as climate change. I am interested in integrated research projects between science, technology, innovation (STI) and business management; climate change.
Expectations as a QES Scholar during the Mobility Period
During my stay at Carleton University I’m looking forward to gaining knowledge and hands on experience related to climate change and sustainable development issues, from the workshops, lectures, presentations, and the research placement opportunity that will be undertaken in this period. I will also liaise and network with doctoral students and faculty members to engage in multi-disciplinary discourse and information sharing on research in the areas of climate action, sustainable development, food security and societal transformation. I expect to build my academic writing, presenting, publishing, and networking and collaboration skills during my stay at Carleton University.
The QES Project and Advancement of your Career
As a faculty member the knowledge and skills gained from this program are essential for my career advancement as a lecturer and researcher. The QES program will give me the needed tools and knowledge for further investigation on evolving practices related to climate change adaptations, existing coping strategies as well as strategies used to reduce vulnerability and enhance adaptive capacity of the communities at the grass roots for ensuring accountability of the sustainable development and climate action. The QES program will be a platform for networking and establishing collaborations in the areas of science, technology, innovation (STI) and business management.
