I am a Doctoral student pursuing Development Studies. I am self-motivated individual who is innovative and focused. I love singing and enjoy listening to classical and country music. I am interested in helping the underprivileged in society, improving the environment and livelihoods.

Research Interests and societal interests

  • Enhancing the capacity of smallholder farmers to better tackle issues of climate change and adaption for improved livelihoods.
  • Unearthing the imperatives of resource management in climate adaptation and bringing out the implications for rural livelihoods.
  • Greening the environment, re-growing degraded forests and developing our rural communities by the provision of basic amenities; a tool for speeding up efforts in reducing the effects of climate change on these communities.
  • Tapping into indigenous knowledge and building on it to suit the current trends we see in climatic conditions.

Expectations as a QES Scholar during the Mobility Period

By the end of the Mobility Period, I expect to have written at least one publishable paper in my area of research and improved on the methodology for my PhD thesis. I believe that building the adaptive capacity and resilience of the people through putting together relatively more practical and sustainable adaptation strategies, tailored to suit specific communities is key. This would however need a total transformation in our way of doing things, our beliefs, norms and traditions. I hope I would be able to put together some of such relevant life changing strategies at the end of the Mobility Period.

The QES Project and Advancement of your Career

My expectation is to be able to continue to use the skills I will acquire from this program in my future writings and research. My aspiration is to be able to collaborate with your outfit to initiate a community awareness creation program/project on climate change. This program would entail guiding communities to come up with relevant and appropriate climate adaptation and mitigation strategies specific to them, geared towards reducing the impact of climate change on their activities and putting together sustainable ways of using resources available to them for improve livelihoods.
