Simulation Versus Role-Play: Perceptions of Pre-Practicum BSW Students

Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 7:30 am to 8:30 am

Director of the SIM Social Work Research Lab Kenta Asakura, alongside Lea Tufford will be presenting a paper at the Council on Social Work Education’s Annual Program Meeting.

This paper examined the perceptions of pre-practicum BSW students (n=17) of learning interviewing skills via role-play and simulation methods. Results showed advantages to the role-play format due to the prior relationship with peer/client; however, participants describe simulation overall as a more authentic and realistic experience.
