Message from the President

November 8, 2023

To all members of the Carleton community,

To mark both Remembrance Day and Indigenous Veterans Day, Carleton is holding a ceremony on Friday, November 10 at 10:55 a.m. by the flagpoles on Library Road near the Azrieli Theatre.

The entire Carleton community is invited to attend the ceremony and observe two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. to remember those who died in military service, and honour those who served in wartime.

Flags will fly at half-mast and wreaths will be placed near the flagpoles in tribute to those who made tremendous sacrifices to protect this country.

Anyone who can’t attend the ceremony is welcome to visit the flagpoles afterwards to pay their respects and leave poppies on the wreaths.

I hope you’ll join me in pausing to reflect on those who have served and continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict and peace.

Sincerely,

Jerry Tomberlin
Interim President and Vice-Chancellor
Office of the President
