Dear faculty and staff,

As we reach the halfway point of the fall term, I want to take a moment to recognize all of your hard work and dedication to supporting our students. This is the first time since Fall 2019 that we have had such a vibrant start of the academic year and I appreciate how the community has approached the term with resilience and compassion. I want to recognize the great work that has been accomplished so far and hope that you take some time this week to reflect on your own successes.

Our students rely on us for support and guidance throughout their time at Carleton. To continue empowering you with tools to support our students, I encourage you to review the Student Support website where you can find the upcoming Student Support Certificate workshop schedule and updated student support documents. Across the Students and Enrolment division, we continue to provide a wide variety of services, programs and events to support and engage our students. More information on these initiatives can be found on the Current Students website and the Carleton Mobile app.

In order to support others, we must also ensure that we are supporting ourselves. It is important that we look after our own mental health and wellness and I encourage anyone who needs support to reach out to the Employee and Family Assistance Program. If you are concerned about a student and are unsure of the best resource or support, you are encouraged to submit a Care Report.

As we enter the colder months ahead, it remains important that we continue to show compassion and empathy to one another and ourselves. Everyone has a role to play in ensuring our students are supported throughout their time at Carleton and every interaction you have with a student, either over the phone, in person, through email or Teams, in your office or the classroom, truly makes a difference in their overall experience.

Thank you for all that you do.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Blanchard
Vice-President (Students and Enrolment)
