Web Service Registries are used to facilitate the discovery of Web Services in a distributed system. In an Internet scale, for example, there are a high number of Web Service Registries that are distributed. The problem of management of the distributed registries is a topic that has started attracting attention from a number of researchers. In this project, a Meta-Directory system that uses distributed Meta-Directory nodes for the management of the service registries is developed. The system provides scalability as CHORD is used for the management of information in the distributed Meta-Directory nodes. The system also provides flexibility as the routing used for inter-connecting the distributed Meta-Directory nodes can be selected during deployment to accommodate system requirements. The distributed Meta-Directory architecture enhances system performance by allowing the user to choose an appropriate communication model, during configuration, based on the system parameters such as bandwidth available and maximum allowable delay per query message.
