Permafrost Research @ Carleton University
Carleton University is a leader in permafrost research in Canada. The university hosts a number of world-renowned faculty and research groups, including NSERC PermafrostNet, NSERC CREATE LEAP and the multidisciplinary research project: Permafrost Thaw – Climate, People, Infrastructure and Policy.
The Vision
Carleton University aims to facilitate a strategic approach to permafrost change and research by bringing together expertise to create a shared vision to address the following:
- Fundamental and applied research to create novel solutions to address real-world challenges.
- Multidisciplinary training programs to create engineers and scientists with the skills and knowledge to address climate change.
- Coordinated research partnerships connecting data, adaptation, mitigation and social science approaches.
