CUPE 4600 Bargaining Update #1
Carleton University has been in collective bargaining with CUPE 4600 Unit 1, representing Teaching Assistants, some Research Assistants and Service Assistants, and CUPE 4600 Unit 2, representing Contract Instructors, since September. Negotiations have been productive and the parties have reached agreement on several non-monetary articles. The university’s goal is to achieve a negotiated agreement that is fair to both unions, while also reflecting the significant fiscal challenges Carleton faces.
CUPE 4600 Unit 1 Update
Several bargaining dates have been scheduled with CUPE 4600 Unit 1. Further updates will be provided in due course.
CUPE 4600 Unit 2 Update
Carleton University and CUPE 4600 Unit 2 have been in collective bargaining since September 23, 2025 and have met four times to date. On October 16, 2025, CUPE 4600 Unit 2 applied to the Ministry of Labour to request the appointment of a conciliation officer. Conciliation is a normal step in the collective bargaining process and does not mean that a labour disruption is imminent. The university looks forward to working with the union’s bargaining team and the conciliation officer to reach a renewed collective agreement with CUPE 4600 Unit 2. The meeting is scheduled for November 25, 2025.
