Loeb Building

The Loeb Building recognizes the financial contributions made to Carleton by Ottawa’s Loeb family. It houses offices for the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs, as well as various academic departments, a cafeteria and lounge, classrooms and laboratories.

It is also home to Carleton’s Music department with its extensive collection of musical instruments, scores and periodicals.

Accessibility Guide

Parking

2 accessible visitor parking spaces in P8. 1 accessible visitor parking space near the 3rd floor entrance. For information on accessible permit parking, visit Parking Services.

Exterior Entrance

Main entrance leads to level 3 of C block. Located on North side, near Southam Hall and the Quad. 3 accessible entrances lead to level 1 (all located near University Drive and the river). Entrance to Loeb Cafe with ramp access, entrance to link between A block and B block, and additional entrance through Human Computer Interaction building near P8.

Interior Entrances

Tunnel entrances lead from tunnels F (yellow) and G (blue) on level 2. Tunnel extension from Loeb to Human Computer Interaction building on level 2.

Washrooms

Accessible stalls in multi-stall washrooms on level 1 (door openers). Accessible universal washrooms on levels 2-6, located between blocks B and C (door openers).

Study Areas

Some spaces on first and second levels, outside Loeb Café, Map Library, and B236.

Food/Beverages

Vending machines on second level and Loeb Café on first level.

Remarks/Hints

First level exterior entrance is a good drop-off point. Depending on the student’s needs, the Nideyinàn food court may be more accessible. Use Loeb Building to get to the Social Sciences Research Building in the winter, since the latter is not connected to the tunnel system.

Elevators

3 elevators, located between blocks. Elevator B (between blocks A and B) serves levels 1-9. The other 2 elevators serve levels 1-8. All elevators feature tactile and braille buttons, an audible announcement system (voice and beeps), and a mirror.
