In her November 2019 “SICS Talk”, professor Susan Ross read excerpts from a paper manuscript that has now been published:
Susan M. Ross. 2020. “Re-evaluating Heritage Waste: Sustaining Material Values through Deconstruction and Reuse” The Historic Environment: Policy and Practice.

The special issue on “Heritage and Waste” of the Journal of Cultural Heritage Management and Sustainable Development, which Susan co-edited with Victoria Angel, ERA Architects Cultural Heritage Lead and SICS adjunct professor, is also now published. This is partly a follow up to the Heritage in Reverse: Material Values, Waste and Deconstruction symposium that Susan organized at Carleton in October 2018. Four of the presenters from the Symposium contributed to this issue, including Alison Creba, who obtained her MA in heritage conservation from SICS in 2018. The call for abstracts for the special issue drew additional responses from scholars beyond North America, adding perspectives from building science and anthropology, and case studies addressing post-disaster contexts in Italy and Syria, among others. Please see the complete table of contents for all eight articles, and the introduction by Susan and Victoria, which provides an overview of the issue goals and content.

In addition, Susan’s research is currently the subject of a faculty profile on the Carleton Immersive Media Studio website blog.
