In July 2023, 3rd year PhD candidate Gale Franklin presented at the International Council for Traditions of Music and Dance 47th World Conference in Accra, Ghana at the University of Legon.

Her paper was titled “Listening to the Sounds of Whiteness: The Sounds and Silences of the “Freedom Convoy” Occupation in Ottawa” where she explored the sonic violences of the Convoy occupation through resident testimony at the Ottawa People’s Commission 2022 hearings.

The presentation was widely attended by scholars from around the world with a vested interest in growing far right movements.
